Book Review:

Book Lovers by Emily Henry so this book comes out may 3rd and i was so so excited to read it it's her third book after b street and then people

We meet on vacation which came out last year and people we meet on vacation honestly one of my favorite romance books I love it so much

If you've read those previous two books the first book featured is enemies lovers and the second book people with me on vacation is friends to love her so like the girl gets what

We want you know like she knows the tropes that get us going and I wouldn't exactly know how to describe this one though

It's kind of enemy solvers but kind of I don't think they're like enemies enemies like what you think of enemies to lovers but either way

I was super super excited to read it mainly because it's an emily henry book but then also it's called book lovers

It's about the book industry or people that work in the book industry at least

So the main character is nora and the whole book is from her point of view she works as a literary agent and the beginning of the book

Takes place actually a few years before the rest of the story takes place so at the beginning is when she first meets charlie who goes on to become the love interest

He also works in the book industry as an editor and he's kind of very brooding and abrasive in a bit when they first meet because they're discussing

This book of nora's client and he really doesn't think it's good and doesn't think it has any potential and just doesn't want anything to do with it

So fast forward the few years later and the book that charlie rejected but that nora liked has now become this best seller like it's basically like kind of like a twilight

But it's like in terms of it's become such a big thing that like it's based in a real town and the town that it's based in has become like a tourist destination people want to see where

It is nora's own sister libby is a big fan of the book and wants to go and visit before she has her baby so libby makes this plan and basically nora goes along with it because

She loves her sister to go and visit sunshine falls which is the place that the book is based in and do all the touristy things that are in the book

Just hang out as sisters before the baby comes and she'll now have three kids and not as much time for hanging out and doing sisterly things

So right away I really love the atmosphere of the story it's a book written by a book lover for a book lover about book lovers and that reads

So well like I feel like it's literally like all the terminology and nora loves reading and libby loves reading and charlie loves reading and there's a bookstore and it's just like you can really tell it's a love letter to book lovers which is why

It's called book lover and it's got all these amazing amazing characters and I really liked the setting of sunshine falls the main story though and the main kind of conflict that starts us off is nora is saying

If you've watched you know hallmark movies or you know maybe a princess switch or something like that you know the stereotypical movies where this girl from

The city or this guy from the city who's like a lawyer or a doctor or a hot shot who just works

So hard at their job but is like such a workaholic like doesn't have any friends they're maybe they have a boyfriend or a girlfriend but the boyfriend or girlfriend is just

As much of a workaholic as they are and then at the start of the movie they go to this small town and they fall in love with this veterinarian

This school teacher or this apple orchid owner or something like that and realize that the job they have in the big city isn't for them

They want to settle down in this small kind of country where it's quieter and live their life with this new person nora says that she is the girlfriend that always gets left behind

The thing that her latest boyfriend has said about why he's breaking up with her is that

She isn't like invested like she's not emotionally attached to the relationship like she doesn't really think that like she puts anything into it other than like it's just like a checklist for her

So I also really like that because I am a sucker for those type of movies you know of like but it is always funny that you think like

Like she's giving up her dream job in the city and the things she's worked so hard for to go live on a christmas farm a what are you gonna do in june like how does that work

So it was kind of funny of that style very differently like slow pace versus fast pace and I think that one thing that emily henry does very good in portraying this is not crapping on either lifestyle of being like you know

If you want to live in like a small city where everyone knows each other and you know the town gossip is all the mill and it's a slower paced life that's fine that's for some people

But other people like the hustle and bustle of new york and that's nora and charlie they both like you know seeing who knows what on the train and the subway

When you're going into work they like being able to go to sleep with the sounds of the city and you know just that hustle and bustle like that's for them

I think it was a really nice job of portraying it as like yeah that's not for you necessarily but that doesn't mean it's bad and I just think it's like the opposite of hallmark where like hallmark is always like clearly the city was like

She was run down there he was too much of a workaholic he never called his mom and saying like that's bad it's like no it's okay if like you want to stay

I like that she was able to express that right from the beginning she was like I like this like the country life isn't for me I need noise I need people I need like something that

I can just blend in and belong you know like I feel like I'm part of something bigger and that's totally perfectly fine and I think that was really really smartly done

I just liked it because I feel like you don't often see the antithesis of that you know girl moves to a small town and falls in love and loves us like you don't see someone who like goes to a small town and just like

I still want the city and I really really liked that and then charlie and noor's relationship I said this in my review online but I think it's honestly one of the hottest relationships

I've ever read and I don't even mean in terms of like graphic like sex scenes because I don't there's not like if you read emily henry books there's not they're like

You can read so much more graphic and other ones but they're just really like steamy and like like kissing in the rain and the flirtation they have and the wittiness

They have is really really sweet and I like seeing their relationship develop that's why it's hard to pin down like I said because it kind of starts as like a they don't get off on their right foot but then they don't see each other for a few years you know

So it's like you can't really say enemies because it's not like it's like her work nemesis it's like she just avoids them because they didn't have a good interaction

So then when she goes to sunshine falls and he's there they slowly start to become friends but with this kind of underlying attraction that's always there

But the thing is like you know they're on different paths so they don't ever really do anything with the attractions it's like friends who think each other are hot and would

If the circumstances would write make out with each other all the time you know I don't I don't know what trope exactly that falls under but that's kind of what it is

I just really liked how they were able to communicate and how they were able to kind of balance each other out and I feel like they I mean it's only from norah's point of view

But what we learned about charlie and what nora starts to see in charlie they're both people that I feel like don't feel like they fit in right like nora feels like she really wants to be in the city

Whereas her sister seems super comfortable in like the town and everything like that and a big thing is when their mother died

When they were younger nora really had to take care of libby and because of that like she's always worried about libby and doesn't

Put herself first and kind of will bend herself backwards to make sure libby's happy but libby doesn't really want that you know it's kind of like you go to take a step back

Live your life for yourself and then charlie on the other hand is kind of dealing with a similar thing where they just most people don't get him like they describe him

As like very like brooding and like off-putting and you kind of get that vibe from the first few times you meet him and then nora along with you realize oh dude's just

Shy which there's another book twice shy by sarah hogal that I read that's like that where you think the guy is just a raging a-hole and then you realize he's just painfully shy

I really like that like give me more shy voice it's really cute but I think that they were such good characters and that you could see that

They were each other's person like no one else really fully got them in the way they got each other of like you know like their sister or like their families might be like I get

That like this isn't like for you but like I don't understand why like you know kind of like in a way of like if someone's like hey I like this thing that I don't like I'm like okay

Like yeah that's cool but like I don't get it but like you do you whereas they get each other like no I get why you like that thing I get why this city is for you

Why a small town doesn't work and I think that was just really nice to see and it's just cute guys it's so so adorable and it's definitely for like book lovers romance lovers because nora's mother was obsessed with romance movies

Like that's kind of led to where nora is now of like she's kind of had this aversion to romance it's kind of like it's easier just to be like all right I'll settle for this

Then I don't if I don't put a lot of steak in it then I don't have a lot to lose when the inevitable happen emily henry is one of my favorite romance writers ever and every book

She writes I feel like just gets better and better honestly so I can't wait to see what else she comes up with but yeah you are definitely gonna want to check out book lovers when it comes out in may like I said I just feel like

It's so cute and again the relationship the couple is like like I was like I need a towel but I need a fan after some of the scenes that they're not even they're just like kissing and you're like it's just so cute and I feel like there's a lot of that

What I think of now is classic emily henry where you know eurena and emily henry book is like this witty kind of banter where like they're always joking and it's fast paced and back and forth and

It just reads very well and it just feels like you're just like in on it like you're just smiling like laughing that's they're like banting back and forth together and I don't even mean for the just the romance

I mean like her sister and like anyone that she meets like I think it's just it's really cute how she's able to pull that off and it feels very like classic like oh that's an emily henry book and I like when authors have like a calling of like you know that's an emily henry book.
