Book Review

House of Earth and Blood this is an adult novel specifically its new adult and it definitely has that M II you know explicit rating

so I'm not sure mom I'm not here to tell you what you want to read but this does have a lot of violence this does have you know drug use swearing activity all that kind of stuff so if that's not your cup of tea

probably not for you but this to me is like everything that Sarah J Maas has ever wanted to write like you can just tell that she's writing this book like this is everything like finally she can just write whatever she wants

she can do whatever she wants and I think the new adult genre fits her absolutely perfectly so I was really excited for this book to come out I am a huge fan of Sarah J Maas

I was so excited about this book but I'd completely forgotten what it was about so when I got it I just started reading it and this is a story that is set in it's like a magical

you know like mystical land but it's also modern-day so we have like say we have werewolves we have you know vampires we have all this kind of stuff running around but they're in like a modern city so there are still skyscrapers

there's technology they have phones like all this kind of stuff and it's balanced really well I felt like you know the city of Crescent City was fleshed out like amazingly I really felt like I knew the lay of the land

I knew what to expect with the city I knew what to expect with the mythology with the magic system it was all explained very well to me and when we start off with this book we were following a girl named Brice

she is half human half Fae she's kind of a party girl she's 23 years old she goes out with her best friend and life is pretty okay like they're just kind of getting by and in something very traumatic happens to Bryce and her

life is never the same after that happens there is a two-year time jump this happens very early on in the book and from there her life has just kind of been stalled this is somebody

who's really going through a lot of grief she's very rent from the price that we saw at the beginning of the book and when all of those old wounds are opened again because you know the case reopens and she has to investigate and all of

this she gets roped into this adventure that really does a lot for Bryce she has to reconcile with who she is now she's to reconcile with the guilt that she still feels over what had happened to her and it's really amazing to see

her go on this journey I really think like this shining moment like the the jewel of this book is Bryce dealing with her grief and it was amazing because like you know I'm still really grieving over the rise of Skywalker

I know whatever it was a movie but I the wound is still very fresh for me and reading this this was the first time I completely forgot about how upset I still was about that movie seeing Bryce deal with her grief and seeing her work through it helps me work through what

I was feeling and I love when a book is able to do that I love when a book is really able to reach out and touch you in this way and it was really really special and I really took my time with this book

I wanted to live in the world I wanted to feel it and it just absolutely blew me away of course this isn't just about Bryce this is kind of like a buddy cop type of book she gets roped in into working on this murder investigation along with an angel named hunt

Sarah J boss has a very big wing king and his wings are rather big but is that a bat wing Society now we have feathers and hunt is the shadow of death the Umbra mortis he is a slave and he really just wants to be free he is you

know the dark moody sad boy but he's also a ray of sunshine on the inside and they're dynamic is great the banter between them is amazing the tropes that Sarah J Maas introduces in this are so well done the balance between

the fluffy moments where they're kind of bantering back and forth or you know like they're watching like sports events or they discover that you know price really likes my little pony like all that kind of stuff is balanced

so well with the angst and with all of the feelings and of course yes there is a lot of tension in this book and it's just to me done absolutely to a tee like this book knocks it out of the park it's a perfect 10 out of 10

in my opinion I'm so so in love with it and other thing about it it's very self-contained it's clearly setting off like a series it's clearly kicking off a series I still have a lot of questions about a lot of our characters some things that are going on in the background obviously the epilogue does leave off

in a way where like things are only getting started but you could read this book and have it be completely self-contained because the way that it wraps up at the end with our main characters it does feel completed

yes you can tell that there is still stuff like that's gonna happen with them but this book really does stand on its own to me I guess we'll see how that happens as more books in the series come out but as it is house of earth and blood really has its own legs I think that is really important

so I highly recommend this book I thought it was absolutely amazing and it just made me feel really good like I was so happy to read it I loved all of the quiet moments like once we started to get into the action at the end of this book I was shaking and stressed and it got so intense

I was so worried at all these characters I was so completely immersed a hundred percent sucked into it honestly this is probably my favorite book that Sarah J Maas has written and I am very very excited to get to see what she's gonna do in this world

next I want to know more about these characters I want to live with them more and honestly I just wanna start reading this book again so this book is getting an A+ for me I highly recommend it like I said it is new adults and their does deal with adult themes so if you are a

why a reader that's not for you that's fine she is a why I oughta so I just thought I lay that out there but I absolutely loved it and I really think everybody needs to go out and read this book.
