Book Review:

One of the most terrifying things a parent experiences is when they send their child to school and discover that their child has been injured or killed by a school shooter. School shootings are a very serious and real problem that many people face every day. However, these situations can be avoided if schools take action now. That's where Annika Martin's book The Most Wanted comes in handy. Martin explains what school violence is and how to prevent it. She also shows what police resources are available to help with cases like the ones she describes in her book.

The opening chapter of The Most Wanted describes the aftermath of a school shooting. Martin explains that this situation is extremely traumatic for the people affected by it. Despite that, most people go on with their lives without much fanfare. Martin believes that this is because people don't understand how serious school violence is. Other people avoid looking at these situations because they're afraid that looking away will make these situations worse. Either way, not understanding the seriousness of these situations leaves people vulnerable to these threats.

Martin then goes on to explain how law enforcement officials handle cases like the one she describes in her opening chapter. Police first interview anyone who is suspected of being involved in a school shooting incident. They also collect physical evidence such as fingerprints and blood samples from anyone involved in the incident. After that, police locate any records pertaining to the suspect and any vehicles associated with the suspect's activities. And finally, police go to the school and speak with any students who witnessed anything related to the shooter's activity. From there, authorities can take appropriate action against those responsible for the violence happening at that school.

The next chapter talks about how concerned parents become when their child tells them they were shot at school. Some of these parents take extreme measures by going directly to their child's school and threatening violence themselves. Other parents hire private investigators to find out what happened to their children in as much detail as possible. This investigation sometimes leads parents straight to the perpetrators themselves- hopefully giving authorities an update on where the shooters are located and who they're working with.

Overall, Martin begins her book with a horrific story of what can happen when school violence escalates further. However, she then goes on to explain how law enforcement officials can help prevent these situations from ever occurring in the first place. By understanding what signs someone is witnessing can reveal, everyone can feel safer knowing what to do when they hear about a possible school violence situation.
