Book Review
The words I wish I said by Caitlin Kelly, I could feel his emotions and I loved the minimalist feel of the whole book. I admire his courage to write so candidly about heavy subjects and his weakest thoughts.
She captured the heartbreak, hardships, pain and sense of a just life for a teenager in our world. Overall this book is a wonderful read.
But there wasn't much to take away from it. I don't want to sound harsh, but the poems were very basic, simple and overused. Some of the quotes were almost identical to the quotes on Pinterest and contained a line straight out of John Green's "Looking for Alaska."
In some cases repetition of words and phrases was unnecessary. But in spite of all these criticisms, I have thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I saw myself in his words and this doesn't happen often. Poetry is for healing and I think this book is a healing journey not only for the author but also for the reader. Thanks to the author for being so open with the world, it takes a lot of bravery to do so.
