Book Review:

The hero of this book, Anushka Or Nuni, a 7th grader living in Bangalore, gets to spend her ten-week holiday with her paternal grandparents in a sleepy village in North Karnataka called Somanahali.

She's Wonderstruck by the happenings in the village. She finds new friends thanks to the holiday season. She also gets to learn activities like picnicking, bicycle riding, papermaking, lady making, etc..

She also visits famous places in and around her village. I personally feel that the author has portrayed the village life and how a city girl is surprised by seeing them really very well.

In fact, about three-four of the whole book is all about the common happenings in the village, like the wedding, how Noni lands the cycle,

Paper makes a cows delivery, the garden which Aji, her grandmother boasted about for having wonderful plants, and also her grandfather's farm.

During one of Noni's long strolls with her friends, she uncovers three steps and a part of a Billor all carved with amazing architectural designs.

Well now when all of us read this book, there's a question that appears instantly in our heads. Is there a real Somanahali and a stepwell,

yes, in Ashkenatica there is a place called Suman Haley which is a quite popular tourist destination but there is no stabbed in there. Of course, if you love books that are fictional but are about real life,

I would readily recommend this book to you. It doesn't have any complications and it is also about something every one of us can relate to which is the summer holidays.

Like most of the other books written down by Sudamurti, this book has a really easy and enriching vocabulary that is really helpful to us.
