Book review:

India is the nation of over1 billion people and 16% of the world's total population. India has a diverse culture and heritage, and its people are known to be warm and friendly. India has many sacred sites, such as the Taj Mahal and the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in India.

It is also home to several world famous cities such as Bombay (now Mumbai) and Delhi. India's geography varies from snow-covered mountains to tropical islands. India has a rich history that dates back thousands of years.

It has been home to many prominent cultures, including the Hindu and Buddhist ones. India is one of the oldest civilizations on earth and is also considered the second-largest after China in size.

The Indian subcontinent is home to more than half of the world's population. India shares its territory with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Its capital is Delhi, but the biggest city is Bombay (now Mumbai).

India has a thriving culinary culture with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Its dance form, Bharatnatyam, is one of the most celebrated in the world.

India's literature, cinema, theater, religion and arts are among the world's greatest. The Indian subcontession is rich in tradition and culture; as a result, its people have survived for thousands of years despite hardships.

Hindustan's cultural heritage is one of the world's richest. Ancient Indian cities such as Taxila in Pakistan and Bhadras in Punjab have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Indian subcontinent has several UNESCO World Heritages: Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Quwwat-e-Shemam in Kashmir, Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh and Vaishnodevi Temple in Kashmir. Vaishnodevi Temple is known as one of the seven wonders of India and houses sculptures dating back to 200 BC.

Mughal architecture from various courts in India stands out due to its beauty and complexity. One famous example of Mughal architecture is Lal Qila in Rawalpindi, Pakistan- the Red Fort in New Delhi or Humanyun Khilwatiya in Delhi.

Bharat or 'India' means 'the land of Bram' in Sanskrit. Bram was a Viking from Scandinavia who sailed to India around 800 AD- hence 'the land of Vikings.'

The name 'Bharat' comes from Brahma + ati or 'the land of Brahma,' as depicted on an 8th-century BCE coin from Amaravati, India. The word 'bharat' derives from Sanskrit bhrata which means 'ravishing' or 'romantic.' In Sanskrit, bharat means 'dear country' or 'homeland.'

India is a country rich in culture, history and traditions. Its cultural heritage is one of the world's greatest- thanks to its ancient civilization and many prominent cultures it has hosted throughout its existence. From sacred sites to dance forms to literature and fine arts, there is much to appreciate about this nation.
