Book Review:

The Power of Writing It Down by Allison Fallon, The main idea of the book is to teach you unconventionally how to be a published writer but this book had a different impact on me.

Allison Fallon in the power of writing it down teaches us that expressive writing has the power to calm our minds and ease our lives.

She also teaches us how to overcome the challenges of expressive writing such as the drama of blank pages, the lack of mental and environmental space, being stuck in our thoughts, and worrying about the editing.

The main idea of the book is to teach you unconventionally how to be a published writer but this book had a different impact on me. It helped me to bring mental peace when I need it, just like meditation.

Now when a lot of things are happening in my brain and I feel that I cannot focus on a certain thing during the day or I cannot sleep during the night, I take a piece of paper or a diary or my phone.

I start writing all the things that are on my brain. And they are very random stuff. Basically, it's just like transferring all the files from my brain to a separate place that is out of my body to create some space in my brain.

Calming my mind through creating space is the only goal for my expressive writing. I don't plan to keep track of whatever I write or save.

Even most of the time, I tear the piece of paper or delete whatever I wrote the next morning when I wake up because most of the time whatever I write is just rubbish.

If you have the same problem, this could help you as well. Next time you are in the bed and if you feel that your brain is still active, get out of bed.

Take a piece of paper or a diary or your phone, whichever is more convenient for you, and feel secure. And start writing whatever comes to your mind.

Think of it as a photocopy machine. Transfer everything that picks up in your brain. It could be a swear or it could be a prayer.

Literally anything! Don't care if it's not making any sense. You can always edit it later if you need it or you can just delete it.

When you feel that your brain is calmer now, go back to bed and try to sleep. Hopefully, this will work for you as well and will give you the restful sleep that you need.

 THANK YOU SO MUCH
