Book Review:

Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors I have read I believe all of her novels now except for November 9 which just came out and I have rated I think all of her other books

I've read 5 stars or 4.5 stars I've loved all of them but confess I hated I gave this a 2.5 stars best is told in two points of view a burn who at the age of 15 lost the love of her life

now is 20 years old and desperately needs a job which leads her to Owen a young artist who is looking for an assistant and writing in this novel wasn't the problem Colleen Hoover is a fantastic writer

we can all agree on that she is amazing she can construct sentences so beautifully I have to stop and sit there and just like look at them and take a moment because they're

so beautiful and since her writing is so beautiful I think that for the first half of the book I was really blinded by the beautiful writing and kind of I thought that I was loving in the book because of how the writing how great the writing was but then once

I was able to kind of look past the beautiful writing I was able to see the story for what it was which wasn't great the characters in this book are just awful Auburn is so so passive

I couldn't stand it she really had no backbone and just like refused to stand up for herself and it really seemed like she was waiting for someone to swoop in and fix her problems for her which just reading from that perspective just bothered me so much but for as much as I disliked Auburn

I hated Owen so much he is one of the worst characters I've ever read firstly he went on and on about how all of his previous relationships have failed

how he can't stand all of his ex-girlfriend's he says that he's always the one who gets dumped

so I think we know what the real problem was there Owen it annoyed me so much how he constantly told our Bern how much he deserved her he would say that so many times he'd be like

I deserve you I'm the only one who deserves you I deserve you so much and there was one scene it was actually the sex scene in a three-page scene he said the word deserves seven times that seemed if he wanted puke

I am usually a fan of sex scenes in books that scene was just awful to me because he literally kept saying I'm the only person in the world that deserves you tell me I deserve you dude that's not romantic and then we learned early on in the book that Owen knows Auburn from her past

but she doesn't remember him so we don't know how he knows her we don't find out how he knows her until the very last pages of the book and when I found out how he knew her it annoyed the hell out of me because

he was keeping this huge secret from her the entire book of how he knew her and it was never resolved she never found out it was never talked about it was just never resolved and that romance in this book just really didn't work for me feel like we were told that they were in love

but I really didn't see it happen I feel like I blinked and i missed it I just didn't think they had chemistry no no I don't know what they saw on each other but other than the writing

I really loved the artwork that was in the book and that's something that I really love about Colleen Hoover

she always takes that extra step to add something special to her stories whether it be artwork or songs or poetry it's just always something extra special and

I really really enjoyed that the artwork was probably my favorite part really really did not like this book but I will continue reading Colleen Hoover because she's one of my favorite authors.
